Welcome to the home of the Kansas City Society For Paranormal Research (KCSPARE). We are a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to the finding of scientific evidence of the paranormal. We are based in the Greater Kansas City area, but travel far and wide for our investigations. Our group is led by the husband and wife team of Lee and Christine Rogers. We are a non-profit group and never charge for our investigations. We specialize in historic locations, but also provide assisistance to private individuals.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to investigate and document paranormal phenomena in the Midwest. We are committed to using scientific research procedures to further the quest for proof of the existence of the paranormal. We abide by a strict set of standards and protocols to insure the highest standards of integrity. We always maintain your complete privacy and never release your information to media sources, nor will we put any of your information on our website without your permission.

Equipment Used

We use a variety of scientific equipment in our investigations. We never use psychics or mediums, not that we don't believe in their abilities, but that there is no way to verify their findings. We have a four camera system that connects to a central computer, that work in total darkness. We use a variety of Digital Voice Recorders to try and capture EVP's, Electronic Voice Phenomena. These are disembodied voices that were not audible at the time that the recording was made, but upon playing back the recording, they appear. We use Electro Magnetic Field Detectors, to find fluctuations in the Magnetic Field, which may be caused by an apparition. We also employ digital thermometers, to detect changes in temperature.

Investigative Techniques

When beginning an investigation, we will do research on the property to attempt to find possible reasons for the haunting, such as deaths or tragic events associated with the location. Upon entering the location, we will do an initial walk-thru, where we will take baseline readings on the EMF Detector and the Digital Thermometer. After identifying the areas of activity, we will break up into groups of two or three and begin our vigils. A vigil is where we enter a dark, quiet area, and attempt to make contact with any paranormal entity that may be present. We do this by using our DVR's and asking questions. Quite frequently, upon playing back the recordings, we will find answers to our questions. If any phenomena are observed, we will attempt to find a logical explanation for the event, such as creaky floors, or noisy pipes. After our investigation is concluded, the hard part begins, the review of the evidence. We often have hours of audio and video to listen to. After having reviewed all of our evidence, we return to the location to present our findings to the client, and to offer any advice, or answer any questions that they may have.
