Investigation
We began the investigation by splitting up into teams. Almost immediately, we began to experience phenomena. Sharon, Piper, and Sean heard footsteps on the staircase. Christine and Angelia experienced shadows in the Parlor. Lee and Judy heard footsteps in the Dining Room. But the most activity took place in the Children's Room. There is a child's crib in this room (see photo at left), that originally belonged to the home, but for many years had been located with a family member elsewhere for years. Only two weeks before our investigation had it been returned to the Harris-Kearney House. Sharon and her team reported hearing noises coming from the crib, what sounded like a child playing on the bed. They also reported knocking in response to their questions. Lee and Christine also experienced activity in this room. While doing EVP work, Christine asked if the child was one of the many foster children who had lived there. Lee heard a voice answer, "No". Christine later asked if it was his bed, and she heard a voice say, "Mine". At one point, while setting in the rocking chair next to the crib, Lee experienced something hitting the side of the rocker and moving it. We finished our investigation for the evening, and prepared to review the evidence.

Evidence Review
We began our evidence review with the digital photos. We had a few photos which showed some unusual orb activity, both in the Parlor and the Stairwell, (see photo at left). KCSPARE does not consider orbs as proof of paranormal activity, as there are too many normal causes for these, such as dust, reflections, etc. Upon reviewing the video evidence, there was nothing unusual on the many hours that we had recorded. But the audio recordings had many different EVP's. In the Child's Room, Christy, Alana, Angelia, and Judy were doing an EVP session and picked up the sound of a voice. In the Dining Room, Christy asked the question, "Did you take pride in your work", and we recorded a female voice answering "Yes".. In several locations we recorded the sound of someone whistling a tune. When Lee and Christine were doing EVP work in the Child's Room, we did pick up the voice saying, "No", that Lee had heard, but did not pick up the voice that Christine had heard. The sounds from the crib are clearly audible several times. At one point, Christine asks, "What was your favorite game?", and you can hear what appears to be a small child's voice. We did record a few very disturbing EVP's. Several times a voice can be heard saying Sharon's name. But the most disturbing also occurred in the Child's Room. A very loud and clear voice can be heard saying, "Sharon, don't come back!". It was a very threatening male voice, and sent a shiver through us when we first heard it. This concluded our evidence review.

Conclusion
| |
Upon our evidence review, we concluded that the Harris-Kearney House is definitely a paranormally active location. With the many personal experiences, and the high number of EVP's, we can confidently state that we believe the Harris-Kearney House is haunted. We hope to do a follow up investigation soon, and focus more on the Child's Room, where we had the most activity, and to try and find the source of the threatening voice. Our thanks to Alana Smith, the President of the Westport Historical Society, for allowing us into this beautiful home.
